Fairburn is a quaint city just southwest of the city of Atlanta. The city became popular when the Atlanta and West Point Train Depot was constructed in what is now the downtown area. This allowed the city to prosper as people had a means to travel in and out of the area very easily. Today downtown Fairburn is in the National Register of Historical Places. Although the city has experienced lots of recent growth which brought many new residents, there still exists a significant number of residents who were born and bread in Fairburn and continue to call the city home. There are many activities for visitors and families in the city. Each summer Fairburn hosts its own Farmers Market with local vendors. Fairburn is also home of the annual Georgia Renaissance Festival which brings a great amount of revenue from visitors from all over. Fairburn is located in Fulton county, however prior to 2009 parts of the city fell in Fayette County.
